50 minutes of hard-core Aussie power surfing, shot in Australia, Hawaii, and Indonesia Surf all day. Play all night, crash'n'burn. It's a RITUAL......... O&E
Throughout his teens, Bronson Meydi was described as the best 11, 13 and 15-year-old surfer on the planet. When he was crowned as the 2025 World Junior Champion in the Philippines and then surfed in the CT in Abu Dhabi, his progression has shown no sign of slowing down as he turned 20. With time spooling as fast as his rotations, for this story, we thought we’d stop the projector, catch up, start at the end and work our way back. How did a shy grom from Lakey Peak take over the surfing world? He walks through his life, in reverse, here.
When we caught up with Russell Bierke back home in Ulladulla, he was, once again, in recovery mode. Fresh off broken ribs and a bruised sternum at JAWS, he’d just added a broken nose to the collection—this time courtesy of a local mysto bombie. Stitched up but in good spirits, Russ took a moment to reflect on his latest cold-water strike mission to the emerald edge of the world: Ireland.
Ocean & Earth has always been about supporting the next generation of surfers, and our latest partnership is a testament to that commitment. Enter the Walter brothers—Dakoda and Harley—two young surfers whose raw talent and progressive approach to surfing make them stand out in today’s lineup. Their passion, skill, and innovative style align perfectly with what Ocean & Earth stands for: pushing boundaries while staying true to the core of surfing. This partnership is especially significant, as it's the first time we've fully sponsored athletes since our CEO, former pro surfer Phil Macdonald, was boasting the O&E nose sticker, marking a return to the kind of rider support that defined his own tenure.
“We sat down for dinner, in the arse end of Africa, and Nathan Florence was there. Koa Rothman swung in, and was I like, ‘this is hectic,’” said Sean “Sea Mullet” Mawson. “Then Jamie O’Brien drove by and I thought what the fuck am I doing here? This is my worst nightmare.” Yet for the unassuming goofy footer, the nightmare would turn into a dream trip. The waves of a lifetime. The happiest he’s ever been. A mission that would see him double down on twin fins, adventure and his shaping career.
The stylish 24-year-old Ed Hamaty from Bulli on the South Coast of NSW has a different tale to most surfers. Growing up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney till he was 16, he was more likely to be an Olympic swimmer, go-kart racer or petrol head, than a surfer. A move to the coast and his unique talent has seen him carve out a career as a freethinking surfing outlier. We caught up with Eddy to talk through his unusual path to shredding on the South Coast.
Fresh off a whirlwind trip to Hawaii’s North Shore, Russell Bierke is back in Australia, trading mountainous waves for home renovations—and nursing some serious bruises in the process. In just one action-packed week, he tackled Jaws, competed in the legendary Eddie Aikau Invitational, took on the Vans Pipe Masters, and even squeezed in some playful Rockies sessions.
After a horrific surfing injury, hard charging Aron Cox concentrated on filming his good mate Lennix Smith. Up until that point, Cox had been one of the underrepresented underground chargers on the South Coast. In and around his job as a concreter, Cox would chase any serious swell that looked good on the charts. He’d logged sessions at Shipsterns, Skeleton Bay, heaving Nias and Cloudbreak as well as big-wave slabs near home.
Ocean & Earth is thrilled to announce its remarkable success at the prestigious Australian Surf Industry Awards, held last week in Sydney. The event celebrated excellence in the surf industry, honouring outstanding contributions from brands, retailers, and individuals.
